Birthwise antenatal birth preparation classes are run by Caroline, a qualified teacher, local doula and certified maternity nurse. They are a comprehensive introduction to the third trimester of pregnancy, labour and birth, and life with a newborn baby. The six week course is suitable from approximately 20 weeks of pregnancy onwards so that you can maximise the time to learn and plan your your upcoming birth and baby, wherever and however you plan to birth.
You will learn about:
- Your birth choices
- How to have a positive and active birth experience
- Comfort measures and pain relief options
- How hormones affect labour and birth
- Care of a newborn baby
- What's normal in pregnancy, labour and after birth
- Exercises to support an active labour and birth, and optimal fetal positioning
- Options in pregnancy and birth
and much, much more! Each course is highly tailored to the needs and interests of the prospective parents - planning an elective caesarean or a home birth? We'll talk about that. Parenting as a same-sex or an adoptive couple? We'll talk about that. Having twins or multiples? We'll talk about that. Raising multilingual children? We'll talk about that.
Most importantly, you will make a group of friends who are at the same life stage as you - these friendships often last a lifetime.
